Mikhail Gorbachev and the end of Communism

Well Mikhail Gorbachev was the person who opened up the Soviet Union by allowing new ideas be heard.The churches were opened,descendants were to be free from jail, and books that were banned were being accepted again into society, and also the citizens were able to vote for the country's candidates. He also allowed people to open their own private businesses. He regained back freedom and allowed voices to be heard. Indeed this angered the Soviet citizens to speak of their complaints or problems. He ended communism because basically in a communist society, the government basically controlled everything. And it restricted freedom of press, speech, and religion. Mikhail's way of governing was different from all the other previous Soviet leaders due to the fact that other leaders did what they wanted and never listened to their people.

Glasnost - Its basically a reunion where they Soviet Union's issues, economy and political problems. It was formed in 1985 by Mikhail Gorbachev.

Peristroika - It basically a policy or in a way a practice for reforming the Soviet Union's economic and political system.

Collapse Of Communism

Well communism collapsed in Eastern Europe and the USSR mainly because people people were not allowed to cross the border from communist East Germany to Democratic West Germany. When the Berlin Wall came crashing down, Eastern and Western Germany could form more economic and social ties. In the begging it was an economic disaster, later on, they were able to better their financial situations. People teared down the Berlin Wall because they were separated from their family and at last, on November 9, 1989, the wall came down. After 28 years, East and West Germany could finally form new diplomatic relations.When Communism was abolished, there was less of a need for concern about nuclear annihilation.In fact this changed the world since now you can go basically country you want, not worrying that you'll get shot for being different.

Creation of Israel

Zionism is basically a political movement that supports homeland for the Jewish people since theyy felt for happened to them because of Adolf Hitler. Palestinians and Israel people don't get along because the Israel people took there land to make the land of the people from Israel.Both sides claim that Israel has occurred a lot of historical events, there ethnicity, religion and culture in Israel that is very sacred to them.The other foundries around Israel are angry at the Jews because they it is not fair that they lost there land and because the United States helped them economically so therefore will improve their military and economic system.

Nelson Mandela and Apartheid

Well Apartheid was a racial segregation policy were basically non-whites were classified as Bantu or black, colored which were from mixed races, and Indians didn't share full rights of citizenship's with the whites. This system was during the year 1948 to 1994, which was around 13 years.The word Apartheid was developed in the late 1930s by the South Africans Bureau, which had called for policy "separate development of races." This system was first approved when the Afrikaner National Party came to power. Nelson Mandela was a hero because other people just do what Apartheid you to do, but he was a fighter and a was warrior who wanted to free South Africa. He admired by so many authors because he is one of the worlds freedom fighters for unity and liberation and all his other accomplishments in South Africa.

African Independence

Africa changed some much during a 20 year time period, 1955 to 1975. Well one reason why Africa changed was because the British Colony developed the first African colony in South Sahara to basically achieve independence, called the Gold Coast. One of the leaders that lead them to independence was Kwame Nkrumah, he was a teacher, who helped liberate the Gold Coast from the British. Well similary to Gandhi in India.He also lead non-violent protests. Kwame had organized boycotts and strikes which caused him to be arrested several times. Although Kwame had been arrested, his efforts made a huge difference. Eventually Ghana was able to gain independence and this started numerous changes and advancements throughout Africa. They received their independence, and they took the name Ghana, and became the first nation that was governed by Africans. Well after the indepedence he became prime minister of Ghana.

Neolithic Revolution

Well the Neolithic Revolution was a major turning point in around the world because before this event, humans would hunt animals and gather food in order to survive. They would migrate to deferment places and never get settled in one area because of the climate and food supply. The Neolithic Revolution basically allowed humans to settle in one place and learned how to farm by using seeds. Humans also began to domesticate animals instead of killing them right away. They were able to develop new technologies, form social classes, and increase population. Most of people settled around the rivers because it was more convenient for their crops. They were able to get water and have fertile soil which developed farming.Through out this era humans were now able to have more control over many thing they do. Luckily we domesticate animals now instead of killing which would have been a disaster because without food we would probably not exist.I personally think the Neolithic Revolution is an era which played an important part in history.

The European Union

Well for a period of time Europe was the scene of frequent and bloody wars. France and Germany fought each other three times wit a lot of casualties.Several European leaders became convinced that the only way to secure a lasting peace between their countries was to unite them economically and politically. Their final decision was to make the European Union an alliance of 25 nations that has changed the face of Europe. This union has been successful that it has created a new superpower in the world. The European Union is now a economic and political superpower that competes with the USA. Well now this economic union was successful and grew into other economic unions. Now the EU has its own parliament, military, and various organizations and committees that help maintain cooperation and trade between the EU member nations.Now the same nations who used to fight and kill each other are now bound together economically, politically, socially, and militarily which basically means that the chance that this countries would want to start war is very small.

Well in this movie the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics were competing with each other. The US and the USSR had a competition called the space race. They competed to explore outer space, also who is able to put the first satellites, having the first human in space, and the first man to land on the moon. Well in the beginning the USSR was winning the competition but later on the US started to catch up.Well the first person to put the satellite in space was The USSR and after some time the US did. On the other hand the US was the first person to send a monkey into space, but The USSR had a person sent into space.On the bright side the US sent the first person to explore the outer space and the US also had a person who landed on the moon. This competition of the space race occurred during the Cold War. The space race played an important part in the cold war since it showed who had superior people and technological advances.

Cuban Missile Crisis

Well the Cuban missile crisis is considered to be the hottest moment in the Cold War because it was the closet the world has ever come to having a nuclear war. This conflict was between the United States and the Soviet Union who wanted to have better nuclear bombs than each other. The Soviet Union was placing missiles installations in Cuba without United States knowing. Then came some photographs that showed what the Soviet Union.Due to the fact that this occurred,the president organized a group of twelve important advisers to handle the crisis that needed to end.Afterwards the president announced to the public about his decision to quarantine the island of Cuba and demanding the Soviet Union to remove all their weapons out of Cuba. At last it ended with the Soviet Union taking their weapons out of Cuba like the United States asked them to and the United States could not for any reason invade Cuba.

NATO and the Warsaw Pact

Well the North Atlantic Treaty Organization or other wards called NATO , was basically a organization that Europe and North America formed together. According tho the articles the main reason that both continents formed this organization was so that the countries involved wanted a mutual defense so if one of the countries in their organization got attacked, then all of the countries that are in the organization will come and help out the country in need of assistance. The Warsaw Pact was another organization that the Central and Eastern European communist states formed. So the main reason they formed this organization was to be another mutual defense alliance such as the one made by the NATO organization. So in conclusion was basically made to defend themselves in case they were attacked or being in danger in any way possible.

Night and Fog

The film Night and Fog is a documentation which showed a concentration camp called Auschwitz. According to the film Schindler list by Steven Spielberg, this documentation showed what they actually did in the concentration camp, and also provide more facts that made it more clear of how people actually suffered. Like the film, Schindler's showed how they killed the people withouy mercy and in the film Night and Fog they showed pictures of the bodies more in detail.Well according to which film is better, i feel that Schindler list is quite more interesting. Due to the fact that it showed different parts of theHolocaust not just one like the documentation on Auschwitz. This gave me a better picture on how Jews were treated throughout many years.

Schindler's List

Well the film "Schindler's List" is basically showing what happened in the Holocaust. I saw how the Jews were treated in the Ghettos, the in the Labor Camps and in the concentration camps. This film showed how the Jews would try to hide and then later be killed by the Nazi's without mercy. It movie also showed how Jew families were separated and some never saw each other again. Even though the Jews were treated badly there was a man named Schindler who saved some workers since he was part of the Nazi army.Unlike other Nazi's he had compassion on the Jews and helped them any way he can.There was apart in this film where the Nazi's try to separate a little kids from her mom but he stops the officer since he tells them that they are needed to clean the bullets. This event showed me that all Nazi members were cruel. Through out the movie there are several parts that are not that easy to watch, since you see body parts all over the place, and see how little kids get shot like they were animals. Well in conclusion i think that the Nazi got what they deserved which was death in most cases.

US Atomic Bombing of Japan in 1945

Well according to the article, and my prior knowledge on this topic, i would agree that the US Bombing of Japan in 1945 was one of the most major events during the last century. This event basically influenced the world because during this time was the time were things were getting updated such as better weapons of mass destruction, etc... The infliction of the bombs told the Japanese that they had technology that they couldn't match.The bombing caused the death of many innocent people and the destruction of two mayor cities which were Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Due to this attack many people were seriously injured with all of the radiations that was surrounded them.

Before the bombing some people couldn't decided whether to use the bombs or not to use them, but at the end the president made the final call . Well another story that is still remembered, is the strive that Martin Luther King did for his people. Well this event might not have a lot of deaths but because of his effort, black people are treated the same, and slavery no longer exists. These two events are pretty similar since the bombing in a way made the Japanese stronger, and when Martin Luther King died, African Americans weren't scared to fight for their rights. Many events are that power as the bombing but there are other events in the world that would never be forgotten and that in a way influences everybody in the world.

Propaganda is a poster with information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc. Sometimes propaganda are not accurate, it is just people saying things so you can join them and help them with what there are doing or a specific cause.

The poster says Eucopas Sieq dein Wohlstand. Well that's of coarse written in German, but in English it means Europe's Victory is Your Prosperity. It was made in 1941 by the Nazi party, primarily to encourage its troops at war and at home.

The Treaty of Versailles

The terms of the treaty were very cruel against Germany. As a result of the reparations Germany was made to pay World War I's dues, by the 1930s the country was in an economic chaos which opened the door for Hitler's National Socialist Party to capture the German electorate imagination by appealing to the treaty would make Germany have, what they lost.

The Treaty of Versailles was signed at the end of WWI. Versailles was created by The Big Four which included France, great Britain, U.S and Italy. The Versailles Treaty forced Germany to sign a war guilt clause, pay $33 billion in reparations, to permanently reduce the military, the army can only have 100 men, eliminate the navy and air force, lose Alsace-Lorraince to France, the Rhineland had to become de-militarized, Germany loses all their colonies, it also guaranteed British and American support in the event of another German attack. This event probably made people want to get what they lost and don't want to owe any body anything. So therefore it influenced people to stand up for their country, which brought out Hitler.

Mustafa Kemal was a military genius, a charismatic leader, also a comprehensive reformer. It was important at the time for the Republic of Turkey to be modernized in order to progress towards the level of contemporary civilizations and to be an active member of the culturally developed communities. Mustafa Kemal modernized the life of his country by modernizing the way they dressed.

He introduced reforms which he considered of vital importance for the salvation and survival of his people between 1924-1938. These reforms were enthusiastically welcomed by the Turkish people. Well secular means pertaining to worldly things or to things that are not regarded as religious, spiritual, or sacred.

Film Lesson Gandhi

Gandhi was a leader who was very powerful, who fight for his people rights in India. He was a fair leader wanted to gain independence from the British. Gandhi helped his nation gained independence from Great Britain by help solving problems which would make India a better country. He didn't want the British to control India so he find different ways to make their own goods and produce it in the country so in this case they won't have to buy the British goods and pay taxes. During his protest many of his people were massacred and they couldn't defend themselves because Gandhi believed that violence would lead to more violence.

Well personally i think that Gandhi was the first one had the courage to fight for Indians rights. Without him, i don't think that the Indians would have accomplished their Independence since back then the Indians feared the British the the consequences that they would face. In Great Britain the world war two just ended which left them in a position were they had more important things to take care, so to get them off there back they just gave them their Independence.
